Man charged after shooting & stabbing in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Police are investigating a shooting and stabbing that happened Monday night.

Around 11:45 p.m., Newport News police responded to the first block of Guenevere Court.

When officers got there they found two adult males, a 33-year-old and a 49-year-old, inside a residence suffering from stab wounds. Police added that one of the males was also shot.

Both were taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, according to police.

According to the investigation, the two men were visiting Islam Wilson, 33, when an altercation occurred, resulting in the both men being stabbed. The 49-year-old man says while he was running away, he was shot.

Police say Wilson was arrested and turned over to the custody of the Newport News City Jail.

He is charged with two counts malicious wounding and one count use of firearm in the commission of a felony.
