32-year-old man injured after shooting in Hampton; police searching for suspect information

HAMPTON, Va. - Police are investigating after a shooting took place Thursday morning.

Reports came in around 12 a.m., regarding a shooting from the 4800 block of 82nd Street.

Upon arrival, officers located a 32-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated for a non-life threatening injury.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim and 4 others were in a vehicle traveling westbound on West Mercury Boulevard when the occupants of another unidentified vehicle began shooting at them, striking the vehicle several times.

Reports further say that the victim’s vehicle came to a stop in the 4800 block of 82nd Street and the occupants of the suspect vehicle fled the area towards Jefferson Avenue.

The motive and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation and there is no suspect or suspect vehicle information to release at this time.
