Man dies after life threatening injury following Suffolk shooting

SUFFOLK, Va. - Police are investigating after a man was shot early Monday morning.

Authorities say Suffolk responded to the 800 Block of West Washington Street at 12:02 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a man, later identified as 19-year-old Jaquan Malik Saunders, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment with a life threatening injury.

Saunders succumbed to his injuries Wednesday afternoon while in the hospital receiving treatment.

Police do not suspect foul play.

The investigation is ongoing.
