SUFFOLK, Va. - A man was seriously injured after being pinned by an overturned excavator in Suffolk Saturday morning.
Crews responded to the 5900 Blk. Of Indian Trail, in Holland, for a technical rescue after officials were dispatched to the incident at 9:53 a.m.
Two crews arrived at 10:04 a.m. to find a man pinned under an excavator a half-mile off the road.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue’s technical rescue team lifted the excavator off the man’s lower body while paramedics assisted with life support. He was extricated at 10:24 a.m.
The man was taken to a trauma canter with serious injuries.
Responding units included Battalion 2, Engine 2, Engine 7, Ladder 6, Rescue 1, Medic 7, EMS1, and Safety 1.
