Man seriously injured following officer involved Suffolk shooting

SUFFOLK, Va. - Suffolk Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that left one man with serious injuries.

Police say Emergency Communications were first contacted around 7:33 p.m. regarding an armed domestic abduction of an adult female.

An officer located the woman's unoccupied vehicle in a shopping center in the 500 block of East Constance Road, according to officials.

Officials say 35-year-old Marvin Antoine Brown and the woman arrived where her vehicle was located when officers made contact with the suspect.

A physical altercation took place between the officer and Brown.

According to police, Brown was able to disarm the officer from his taser and strike the officer three times. The officer then shot at Brown in response to being tased.

Officials say the officer provided first aid until Suffolk Fire & Rescue arrived. The man was then taken to the emergency room to be treated for serious injuries.

Brown was arrested after being released from hospital for domestic assault and battery, abduction, use of firearm in commission of felony, possession of fire arm by convicted felon, disarming an officer, attempted malicious wounding of officer, and resisting arrest.

He is currently being held without bond at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail, according to police.
