Man seriously injured from Virginia Beach hit-and-run crash, police investigating

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Beach Police responded to a serious hit and run crash that left one man with serious injuries.

Police say the crash occurred around 2:42 p.m., in the 1400 block of South Independence Boulevard. Police say when they arrived they found one man injured and the other vehicle fled the scene.

The man was extricated out of the vehicle by members of the Virginia Beach Fire Department. He was then taken to a local hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Police say they are looking for the second vehicle, which is a burgundy older model Ford Explorer with front and driver side damages.

Police are currently directing traffic and the area is expected to be closed for an hour, due to the investigation.

Police say to use S. Plaza Trail at this time.

The crash is currently being investigated by the Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT).
