PORTSMOUTH, Va. - The Portsmouth Police Department is investigating after a man was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning.
According to police, dispatch received a call about a man with a gunshot wound to his upper body around 12:13 a.m. Officers responded to the 20 block of Merrimac Drive, where they located the victim, identified as 32-year-old Tony Lamont Deans.
Deans was declared dead on scene.
Police are investigating this incident as a homicide.
