Suspect in custody after man injured during shooting in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Police are investigating after they say a man was shot during an altercation with another man on Friday.

Around 1:44 a.m., reports say a man suffering from a gunshot wound flagged down a police officer in the 4000 block of Bonney Road.

The victim stated that he had gotten into a dispute with another man and then shots were fired. The victim has been taken to the hospital with what police believe are non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers say they canvassed the area and were able to locate the adult male suspect.

28-year-old Michael Joseph Baker of Virginia Beach was arrested and charged with use of a firearm in commission of a felony, felonious assault and discharging a firearm into an occupied building.

He is being held a tthe Virginia Beach Correctional Facility.
