Honoring Veterans: Commonwealth’s Veterans Day Ceremony held Wednesday

RICHMOND, Va. – November 11 is Veteran’s Day, a day we remember and honor Veterans of our military branches who sacrificed for our freedom in the U.S.

On Wednesday the 64th annual Commonwealth’s Veterans Day Ceremony is happening in Richmond.

The ceremony honors Virginia’s men and women who served in the U.S. armed forces.

It will be held at the Virginia War Memorial in Richmond at 11 a.m., and you can attend virtually by watching live in this story at 11 a.m. or on our WTKR News 3 Facebook page.

The master of ceremonies will be Dr. Clay Mountcastle, the Virginia War Memorial’s director. Other speakers will include Carlos L. Hopkins, State Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs and John Maxwell, Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Veterans Services.

The Virginia War Memorial’s 2020 Veterans Day Student Essay Contest winners will also be announced.
