Planning to ship a package to a deployed Sailor? Here are the deadlines.

NORFOLK, Va. - The Navy is reminding Sailors and families to plan ahead if they plan to ship holiday packages this year.

To ensure packages arrive safely, the Navy is urging folks to use sturdy boxes, have plenty of cushioning within the boxes, and to tape the box so it closes flat on all sides.

Cord, rope, and twine should not be used on boxes as they can get caught in equipment.

With the pandemic, there's expected to be an increase in holiday mail this year, so the Navy is also reminding folks of these important shipping deadlines:

Dec. 9 – For Priority and First-Class Mail, Letters, and Cards addressed to and from:

Dec. 11 – For Priority and First-Class Mail, Letters, and Cards addressed to and from:
