NORFOLK, Va. - Navy forces are in the Black Sea right now to take part in an exercise with thousands of other service members from seven other nations.

Sea Breeze 2020 kicked off Monday in the Black Sea.

This is the twentieth iteration of the exercise co-hosted by Ukraine and the United States. It was first held in 1997.

Bulgaria, Georgia, Norway, Romania, Spain, and Turkey are all joining the two host nations.

About 400 Sailors from the United States are expected to participate, including those from the destroyer USS Porter and a P-8A Poseidon from Patrol Squadron 47.

Maritime interdiction operations, air defense, anti-submarine warfare and search and rescue operations are all expected to be part of Sea Breeze 2020.

The exercise runs through Sunday.
