VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - In a time when many people are so fearful to travel, a new luxury bus line out of Virginia Beach aims to ease the minds of worried travelers.

"Right when you get here, there will be a ROX attendant like a flight attendant to meet you," said Rox Founder Jeff McWaters.

Then, just step aboard and you are greeted with plush leather seats, TVs, snacks, a catered lunch and a first class experience.

"It's an exciting new way to travel. We like to call it 'travel re-imagined,'" said McWaters.

McWaters founded the new transportation company called The ROX - or Rapid Overline Express – last year. They rolled out on July 1, right in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. The coaches travel daily from Virginia Beach to D.C., and each ticket is $126.

"Everyone's world has changed, and we had to think about social distancing and make sure passengers and crew are safe," he said.

To ensure maximum social distancing for travelers, ROX is not selling their middle row seats, so it's just you and 14 others. Before the pandemic, the bus capacity was 22 guests.

The coaches also feature the latest air filtration technology to ease the minds of travelers worried about the spread of germs.

"We also have a new fogger we use that creates a micro-barrier and eliminates growth or ability for kinds of viruses to perpetrate in the coach," McWaters explained.

All employees at ROX are screened for COVID-19 periodically. Passengers must sanitize their hands and mask up before settling into their seats.

"You will also get a no-touch temperature test," he said.

McWaters believes it’s the new stress-free, safest way to travel during these unprecedented times.

"Trains and planes are crowded, offer long waits and not socially distanced," he said. "This is the safer, cheaper option."
