Newport News officer involved in crash, police investigating

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - A Newport News Police officer was involved in a crash at the intersection of J. Clyde Morris Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue Thursday evening.

According to police, at approximately 5:42 p.m., an officer traveling west on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard crashed with a vehicle traveling south on Jefferson Avenue. The officer’s emergency equipment was activated at the time of the crash.

The officer was not injured, and the occupants of the other vehicle - an adult male, adult female and two juveniles - were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

No charges have been filed, and the investigation remains ongoing.
