Under the guidance of the Virginia Department of Health, the City of Newport News Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department cancels all winter sports programs.
According to a news release, officials say they are committed to the safety of participants, coaches, officials, and staff members, and are hopeful that they will be able to offer youth a spring outdoor soccer season.
Registration will likely open towards the end of January.
NNPRT Athletics will reach out to those who have registered for the winter season in the next couple of days regarding refund distribution.
