Newport News' Patrick Henry Mall set to reopen May 15

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - After temporarily closing out of concern for the health and safety of shoppers and employees amid the coronavirus pandemic, Patrick Henry Mall in Newport News is set to reopen on Friday, May 15.

The mall will be operating on the following reduced-hour schedule starting Friday:

  • Monday-Saturday: 11a.m. -7 p.m.
  • Sunday: 12-6 p.m

The mall says staff have thoroughly cleaned the entire facility during this time and have removed common area seating. Based on government restrictions, food court seating will be limited, and the mall's play area will remain closed in order to enforce the CDC’s social distancing recommendations.

According to Patrick Henry's website, its stores and restaurants are slated to open on the following dates:

To ensure a safe environment for both customers and employees, mall staff have taken the following precautions:

  • Limiting the number of shoppers and limiting access to two entrances.
  • Implementing a temporary parental escort policy.
  • Offering sanitizing locations throughout the property.
  • Thoroughly cleaned the entire facility during downtime.
  • Removed common area seating.
  • Based on government restrictions, food court seating has been limited.
  • In order to enforce the CDC’s social distancing recommendations, play area will remain closed.
  • Housekeeping partners are enhancing cleaning and disinfecting protocols, utilizing recommended disinfectant, PH7Q
  • Requiring security and maintenance personnel wear masks and gloves.
  • Placing floor decals as a visual representation of social distancing in the food court and at common area sales locations.
