NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Got any sensitive documents you need to get rid of? Swing by the Newport News Sheriff's Office's annual "Shred Day" this weekend!

The free, annual event returns on Saturday, June 27 from 8-11 a.m. in the parking lot of Todd Stadium.

This event is for household paper destruction, not for businesses.

Destroying papers with personal identifying information can help keep a thief from using your good name to open credit card accounts; from trying to claim your tax refund and from committing utilities, rental or bank fraud.

To minimize wait time, the sheriff's office is asking that patrons please put papers in bags. Boxes cannot be shredded and will be returned to you.

Drivers must enter the stadium via Minton Drive, and deputies will direct them to one of shred trucks where NNSO personnel and volunteers will remove the bags for shredding.

Todd Stadium is located at 12465 Warwick Boulevard.
