NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Crews with the Newport News Fire Department responded to a fire in the 7600 block of Nancy Drive Wednesday night.
Officials say the fire was confined to the first floor. It was ruled to be accidental.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in approximately 38 minutes.
The person who lived in the home was able to escape safely thanks to a working smoke detector.
No one was hurt during this incident.
NFR units are on scene of a residential structure fire in the 7600 block of Nancy Drive. The fire was contained to the first floor and was determined to be accidental.

Nancy Drive cont.- The occupant was alerted by smoke detectors and safely exited the residence. Fire control took approximately 38 minutes and no injuries were reported.
