Norfolk man charged with second degree murder after fatal shooting in May

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk Police arrested a man on charges stemming from a shooting that happened in May.

A man was left dead from the incident.

On May 30 around 7:15 p.m., police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Oaklawn Avenue for the report of a gunshot victim.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was identified as 30-year-old Shelvin Alston and police said he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, 36-year-old Michael Faulkner has been arrested and charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm, according to police.

Detectives have not released a motive or the circumstances surrounding this shooting.

Faulkner is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.
