Norfolk Police charge man in fatal stabbing

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Police Department have charged and arrested a man in connection to a stabbing that left a man dead Sunday morning.

According to police, the call for the stabbing came in around 9:50 a.m. Officers responded to the 9600 block of 20th Bay Street, where they found a 70-year-old man who was suffering from a life-threatening stab wound. The man was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he later died, police say.

On Monday, the victim was identified as Eugene P. Mosley of Norfolk.

Detectives have charged, 62-year-old Melvin A. Eggleston of Norfolk with second-degree murder.

Eggleston is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.

Police have not released the motive and circumstances surrounding this incident.
