Suspect arrested following Norfolk shooting that left man dead

NORFOLK, Va. - A suspect was charged with murder after a 22-year-old man died at the hospital following a shooting that occurred on June 4, 2020.

Around 2:30 p.m., dispatchers received a call for a gunshot victim in the 9600 block of 19th Bay Street. When first responders arrived, they found Ethan A. Evans suffering from gunshot wounds.

Evans was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died from his injuries on June 16, 2020.

As a result of the investigation, 24-year-old Marquise T. Thompson of Newport News was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, malicious wounding and use of a firearm.

Thompson is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
