North Carolina reports 2,344 new coronavirus cases, 38 deaths in 24 hours; Chowan County reports first death

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released their daily update involving coronavirus cases within the state.

As of Thursday, there are now 120,194 cases, 1,239 people hospitalized and 1,903 coronavirus related deaths.

That is 2,344 new cases and 38 additional deaths from Wednesday.

Chowan County reported its first death Thursday. The county's case count sits at 109.

A total of 1,724,924 total coronavirus tests have been completed in North Carolina.

Here's the breakdown of confirmed cases in local areas:

  • Bertie County 226 cases, 4 deaths (+4 cases from Wednesday)
  • Camden County 55 cases, 2 deaths (+2 cases from Wednesday)
  • Chowan County 109 cases, 1 deaths (+0 cases, +1 death from Wednesday)
  • Currituck County 70 cases, 0 deaths (+1 case from Wednesday)
  • Dare County 188 cases, 1 death (+2 cases from Wednesday)
  • Gates County 38 cases, 2 deaths (+1 case from Wednesday)
  • Hertford County 265 cases, 11 deaths (+17 cases from Wednesday)
  • Northampton County 270 cases, 16 deaths (+3 cases from Wednesday)
  • Pasquotank County 336 cases, 17 deaths (+22 cases from Wednesday)
  • Perquimans County 62 cases, 2 deaths (+4 cases from Wednesday)
