The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released their daily update involving coronavirus cases within the state.
As of Saturday, there are now 97,958 cases, 1,154 people hospitalized and 1,629 coronavirus related deaths.
That is 2,481 new cases and 23 additional deaths from Friday, marking a new record daily increase in cases. The former highest increase was 2,462 cases reported on July 11.
A total of 1,379,143 total coronavirus tests have been completed in North Carolina.
