CHESAPEAKE, Va. - A 19-year-old man died in a crash after a vehicle fled from police, crashing with three passengers inside on Thursday, according to police.

Around 12:45 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Shipyard Road and Locks Landing. Officers say they saw a vehicle that fit the description when they arrived on scene.

The vehicle quickly sped off and the officer lost sight of the car. Other officers arrived and they began to canvas the area in an attempt to locate the suspicious vehicle again.

A short time later, the vehicle was found wrecked and overturned in the 3100 block of Old Mill Road, reports say.

Police say there were four subjects in the vehicle. One, identified as 19-year-old Portsmouth man Ce'Quan Kemauri Pope, died at the scene from the injuries sustained. The other three, all juveniles, were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

It was determined that the vehicle was reported stolen.

Two of the three injured juveniles were treated and released from the hospital. One more remains hospitalized with potentially life-threatening injuries.
