VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A woman has died after a single-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon.
State Police say the crash happened on the I-264 interstate east bound, at First Colonial Road around 11:15 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 71-year-old Theresa Mae Hill of Virginia Beach, was driving a black 2009 Saturn sedan when the vehicle ran off the road, into a drainage ditch and hit a concrete embankment head-on.
Officials say Hill was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and died at the scene from her injuries. It is unknown if alcohol was a contributing factor.
Her next of kin has been notified.
The on-ramp in the area was shut down while State Police investigated.
