Over 6K coronavirus patients now discharged in Virginia, ventilator use in hospitals drops

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 47,856 total cases, 45,620 of which are confirmed and 2,236 are probable. There are 1,445 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,338 being confirmed and 107 being probable.

The case numbers are up by 951, and deaths are up by 17 since Wednesday.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Thursday, there are 1,266 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 412 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 321 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

171 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 557 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,953 in the state - that's 19% usage.

6,284 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Chesapeake 554 cases, 90 hospitalized, 15 deaths
  • Accomack 966 cases, 53 hospitalized, 12 deaths
  • Northampton 247 cases, 29 hospitalized, 25 deaths
  • Hampton 214 cases, 32 hospitalized, 4 deaths
  • Norfolk 552 cases, 71 hospitalized, 6 deaths
  • James City County 211 cases, 54 hospitalized, 15 deaths
  • Newport News 299 cases, 41 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Poquoson 8 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths
  • Williamsburg 45 cases, 11 hospitalized, 5 deaths
  • York County 77 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Portsmouth 325 cases, 47 hospitalized, 11 deaths
  • Gloucester 31 cases, 8 hospitalized, 1 death
  • Virginia Beach 770 cases, 100 hospitalized, 24 deaths
  • Franklin City 42 cases, 3 hospitalized, 2 deaths
  • Isle of Wight 133 cases, 13 hospitalized, 3 deaths
