VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Beach Police Department is investigating after a possible drowning at the Oceanfront Friday afternoon.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the beach at 16th Street at 12:45 p.m. in reference to the possible drowning.
When officers arrived, lifeguards had already entered the ocean to save the victim and had began CPR. It is unknown at this time if the victim suffered from a medical condition in the water or drowned.
The victim is being taken to the hospital and life-saving efforts are in progress.
