Person injured, 3 adults displaced following Suffolk fire

SUFFOLK, Va. - Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a residential fire that left three adult occupants displaced early Saturday morning.

According to fire officials, the call came in at 4:12 a.m. for a fire in the 1000 block of Freeman Mill Road.

When crews arrived eight minutes later, they found smoke and fire showing from the front of the home that had extended into the attic. The fire was marked under control at 5:10 a.m.

All three adult occupants were able to escape, but one suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Fire & Rescue crews were also able to safely rescue multiple cats from the home.

The American Red Cross will be contacted to provide assistance, and the fire's cause remains under investigation.
