HAMPTON, Va. - Hampton Police are asking for the public’s help finding the person who shot a teenage boy Friday afternoon.
Around 4:48 p.m., dispatchers received a call about a shooting in the 2800 block of W. Mercury Boulevard. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 16-year-boy in a parking lot who had been hit by gunfire.
The teen was taken to a local hospital, where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed he was shot while driving east on W. Mercury Boulevard. He was found lying in a parking lot at the intersection of Gumwood Road and W. Mercury Boulevard suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The motive and circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation.
