Victim identified after being shot & killed in Portsmouth, police asking for public's help

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Detectives with the Portsmouth Police Department Major Crimes Unit are continuing their investigation into a shooting that has left one person dead.

On Wednesday, around 8:37 p.m., officials received a call requesting police and medical assistance to the 3600 block of Columbia Street for a male who was shot.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from injuries to the torso. Medics arrived and transported him to a local hospital where he would later die.

On May 5, the victim was identified as 33-year-old Curtis Walton.

Detectives are looking to speak with the drivers of two vehicles who may have information regarding the homicide.

The first vehicle is a black 4-door sedan and the second vehicle is a maroon 4-door sedan with dark tinted windows. The maroon vehicle is dented on the passenger side at the center door junction.

Detectives are imploring the drivers of these vehicles to contact them at (757) 393-8536.
