NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Two men are in the hospital after a stabbing incident at a Newport News restaurant led to a shooting Thursday night.
Around 8:08 p.m., officers with the Newport News Police Department responded to a local business in the 12500 block of Warwick Blvd. in reference to a stabbing and subsequent shooting.
Police told News 3 the incident happened at the Soprano Italian restaurant.
When officers arrived on scene, they learned two men had gotten into an altercation inside the business. They left the the business, and one of the men reported being stabbed by the other.
Police say the man who was stabbed shot the man accused of stabbing him. Police say it doesn't appear that either of the men knew each other.
The stabbing victim’s wounds do not appear to be life-threatening, but authorities say the shooting victim’s wounds could be life-threatening.
Both men taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are not looking for any other suspects.
