PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Portsmouth Detectives are searching for a suspect involved in a homicide investigation.
Detectives say on June 11 around 6:47 a.m., they received a call regarding a shooting in the 1100 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue.
48-year-old Dornell Chavous was pronounced dead on scene after being shot in the torso, according to police.
Police say 27-year-old Jevon M. Scott is a suspect in the case. Detectives say they have a warrant for Scott's arrest for second degree murder, robbery, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Scott is described by police as a black male who stands approximately 5’10” tall and weighs 135 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Scott should be considered armed and dangerous, according to officials.
