PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Portsmouth Detectives are investigating a fatal crash involving a medic unit that is now being considered a homicide investigation.
Officials responded to a crash involving a medic unit at Fire Station 1 around 1:24 a.m., Monday morning, at 1601 Effingham Street.
According to officials, 21-year-old Tysheek A. Spivey entered the driveway of Fire Station 1 as a medic unit was attempting to leave striking it head-on.
Two personnel inside the medic unit were taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Spivey was extricated by crews and taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to officials.
According to the investigation, detectives say Spivey was suffering from a gunshot injury when he pulled into the Fire Station and struck the medic unit.
At this time police say no motive is known and no suspects have been identified.
