Portsmouth police investigate double shooting; 16-year-old dead

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit investigate the homicide of a 16-year-old male that happened in the 1300 block of County Street .

The unit responded to a report requesting police and medical assistance for an injured male on Tuesday around 1:36 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive 16-year-old male with injuries consistent with being shot. Medics arrived shortly after and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A second victim, a 23-year-old male, approached a law enforcement officer in the 800 block of London Boulevard. The second victim sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound to the upper body and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
