PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Detectives are investigating a shooting incident that left a woman with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound on Thursday.
Around 2:45 a.m., police were notified about an injured woman at the 200 block of Dale Drive.
According to investigators, the victim was shot in her upper body.
Detectives have identified John Lee Bassfield Jr. as a suspect.
Arrest warrants were obtained for felonious assault, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by felon.
Police said not to approach Bassfield.
