CORPUS CHRISTI, Tx. - An active shooter suspect at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi has been "neutralized" Thursday morning, officials said on Facebook.

NAS Corpus Christi said they responded to the active shooter situation at 6:15 a.m., and said the "shooter has been neutralized" around 8:30 a.m.

All gates on the installation are still closed while first responders process the scene along with NCIS and local law enforcement.

Earlier in the morning NAS Corpus Christi said on Facebook that they were in lockdown status and that the active shooter was in the area of the North Gate.

The post said, "If you are in or near the North Gate get out and away to safety. Execute lockdown procedures -- remain indoors and away from windows."

The Navy said they are aware of reports and there will be more information to follow.

There is no further information available at this time.
