NORFOLK, Va. – A Sailor has died after being hit by a forklift at Naval Station Norfolk Friday morning, base officials say.
Around 11 a.m., a U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Adam M. Foti assigned to the USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109) was hit by the forklift on Pier 14 on the base.
NAVSTA Fire and Emergency Services responded to the scene, and the Chief Petty Officer was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment.
Foti was pronounced dead at 11:34 a.m.
The Navy has begun an investigation into the cause of the incident.
