NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk Police are investigating after an ambulance was stolen from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Wednesday.
A private transport ambulance was parked in the ambulance parking area at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital while a crew was inside picking up a patient.
A Sentara spokesman says a woman climbed into the ambulance through the back door and drove away.
The ambulance was running while parked to maintain a comfortable environment for patients, a Sentara official says.
The Medical Transport Dispatch Center was able to track down the ambulance by GPS to help guide police.
Police recovered the ambulance and a woman is currently in custody.
