CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Some students who attend Chesapeake Public Schools will return to the classroom next week.

During its meeting Monday night, members of the Chesapeake School Board decided that all Option 1 students – students who have chosen in-person learning – will return to campus starting Tuesday, January 19.

Additionally, board members unanimously voted to cancel high school winter sports. In early December, CPS Superintendent Jared Cotton asked a team of school administrators and athletic directors to re-evaluate the district’s plans for winter sports. As a result, the district paused all athletic practices for one week.
