Driver arrested for DUI after crash on I-264 in Virginia Beach results in serious injuries

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - State Police are investigating a multiple vehicle crash that closed several travel lanes Sunday evening.

Police say the crash occurred at 8:43 p.m. on Interstate 264 east bound, west of Lynnhaven Parkway.

According to officials, the crash involved a 2019 Toyota FRS and a 2020 Chevrolet Cargo Van.

The driver of the Toyota, 32-year-old Steven Eric Case, lost control of the vehicle, and struck the Chevrolet before impacting the jersey wall.

Case's passenger, Tara Marie Craft, was not wearing her seatbelt and police say she suffered serious injuries. Officials say the driver of the Chevrolet Van was uninjured.

Case was arrested for DUI, reckless driving/fail to maintain proper control, and open container.

Police say he was taken to Virginia Beach Jail where he received a bond.
