State Police investigate overturned tractor trailer crash that leaves driver seriously injured

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. - Virginia State Police responded to a tractor trailer crash that left the driver seriously injured Monday morning.

Police say they responded to the single vehicle crash around 7:11 a.m., on Interstate 64 at the 233 mile marker.

According to officials, the driver of a 2020 Kenworth tractor trailer, fully loaded with bread and dairy, entered a work zone and ran of the road striking concrete barriers.

Police report, the driver over corrected and ran off the road left, striking the guardrail, and overturned in the median.

The driver was taken to the Medical College of Virginia to be treated for serious injuries.

The area remains closed as of 11 a.m.

Police say charges are currently pending against the driver.
