Suffolk crews respond to fire at furniture manufacturer

SUFFOLK, Va. - Suffolk crews responded to the scene of a commercial structure fire in the 1000 block of Centerpoint Drive off Route 58/Holland Road on Tuesday morning.

Officials said the call was initially received as a commercial fire alarm at 5:11 a.m. and was then upgraded to a commercial structure fire. he first unit arrived on scene at 5:24 a.m.

Firefighters found heavy smoke inside the Friant & Associates facility but said the building was not occupied at the time.

Crews remain on scene ventilating the building.

There were no injuries reported, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
