Suffolk man arrested in connection to abduction, kidnapping incident

SUFFOLK, Va. - Suffolk Police have arrested a man in connection to an abduction and kidnapping incident that occurred on May 4.

Officials says officers made contact with the victim of the incident around 1:39 a.m. According to police, the victims says he had been walking in the 700 block of West Washington Street at 10 p.m. on May 3, when he was approached by a man he knew and got into the suspect's vehicle.

The victim says while he was in the car, he was driven to different locations, physically assaulted, and held against his will.

Police say, 38-year-old Edward Jamaal Taylor, was arrested in connection to the incident on charges including abduction and kidnapping, robbery, two counts of assault and battery, and use or display of firearm in commission of felony.

Offcials say, Taylor is being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

Police are still investigating and additional charges may be filed.
