SUFFOLK, Va. - Police are investigating a shooting incident that happened in the 900 block of Davis Boulevard late Tuesday evening.
Police received a report of shots fired and a male subject on the ground around 11:08 p.m.
Officials said the wounded man sustained life-threatening injuries. He was assessed by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel and then airlifted to a local hospital for further treatment.
Later Wednesday, police identified the victim as 30-year-old Gregory Andrae Byrd of Richmond. He is still in the hospital in serious condition.
