HAMPTON ROADS, Va. — Tidewater Community College will hold its 71st Commencement Exercises virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The virtual ceremony will take place on December 21 a 6 p.m. and will include remarks by President Marcia Conston, student speakers and the presenting of certificates and degrees.

Graduates will be able to see their photos and names displayed during the virtual ceremony.

Graduates are able to participate in the ceremony by sending in personal photos, videos, or messages.

Parents, family, faculty, alumni and community supporters are also encouraged to send greetings to graduates.

The deadline to send in messages and photos is December 11. To participate, click here.

All December graduates will receive celebratory items for the day including their diploma case, a letter from President Conston, commencement program and alumni pin.

There will also be a recording available afterwards for all graduates and families.

The decision to conduct this ceremony online is due to the guidelines announced by Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and is in line with CDC regulations for social distancing to deter the spread of COVID-19.
