Two teens shot in Newport News, one left with serious injuries

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Newport News Police are investigating a shooting that left two teens, a 17-year-old and 19-year-old, with injuries Tuesday evening.

Police say at 6:11 p.m., officials received a call for a report of a shooting victim in the 3200 block of Jefferson Avenue. When officers arrived they found a 19-year-old male suffering from what is believed to be a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Around 6:14 p.m., officers received another call for a second victim in the 600 block of 32nd Street.

A 17-year-old male was found shot and suffering from what police say is believed to be a life-threatening injury.

Both were taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

Police say it is believed the shooting occurred in the 600 block of 32nd Street.

There is no suspect information at this time and police are still investigating.
