PERQUIMANS COUNTY, N.C. - North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal single vehicle crash that took place Sunday afternoon.
Officials say at 3:34 p.m., they received multiple calls about a crash in the 800 block of Ocean Highway North.
When crews arrived on the scene they found a sport utility vehicle in the ditch that had been carrying seven people.
Five people were taken to Sentara Albemarle Hospital, where one of the occupants died from the injuries sustained as a result of the crash.
The crash is currently under investigation.
