VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A woman was killed last Friday after being struck by a vehicle while walking across Birdneck Road.
Reports say that around 7:30 p.m., Virginia Beach emergency officials received a call for a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.
Police's preliminary investigation says that an adult female, later identified as 54-year-old Sherry Sexton, was crossing Birdneck Road when she was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Birdneck Road.
Reports confirmed that a witness to the crash rendered life-saving efforts to Sexton, and first responders took over when they arrived on scene. Sexton succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by Emergency Medical Services.
This incident is being actively investigated by the Fatal Crash Team.
