Victim taken to hospital after Norfolk shooting, man arrested

NORFOLK, Va. - Police arrested a man in connection with a shooting that took place Friday morning.

Reports of shots fired were called from the 700 block of W. Little Creek Road around 4 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

According to police, 34-year-old Joseph E. Riddick was arrested in connection with the investigation and charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm. He is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.

The victim was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where police say he is in critical but stable condition.
