Virginia Beach apartment complex damaged in early-morning fire, multiple families displaced

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A building in the Windsor Lake Apartments complex was damaged in an early-Sunday morning fire, according to the Virginia Beach Fire Department.

Firefighters said the call for the fire came in at 2:32 a.m. Crews responded to the 3900 block of Waterway Place, where they found heavy fire showing in the rear of a unit.

The fire was marked under control at 3:30 a.m., and marked out at 3:41 a.m.

Eight apartments were damaged in the fire, and the Red Cross has been contacted to assist the impacted families. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters,

The fire's cause remains under investigation.
