VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A luxury transportation service provider was awarded a $110,000 grant from the City of Virginia Beach.
Rapid Overland Xpress, also known as The ROX, is set to provide luxury round trip transportation between Virginia Beach and the Washington D.C. area, providing two daily non-strop trips from Westin Town Center to Pentagon City.
“Adding a transportation service of this quality between Virginia Beach and Washington is a tremendous benefit for residents and visitors alike, starting with not having to drive on I-95 or find a place to park,” said Economic Development Director Taylor Adams. “The ROX allows greater access and increased convenience.”
The ROX will start rolling this spring with help from an Economic Development Incentive Program grant of $110,000.
The ROX will provide 50 new jobs with average salaries.
The Virginia Beach City Council created the grant program 26 years ago to create help with companies for growth.
“The City of Virginia Beach’s support and confidence in The ROX is gratifying and appreciated,” said The ROX founder Jeffrey McWaters, a former Virginia state senator and AMERIGROUP founder/CEO.
The ROX will feature 22 luxury first-class seats with concierge, free and ample luggage space, on-board food, free media streaming and wi-fi, and phone charging station at each seat.
